About Empirical Precision

Empirical Precision is a free, open-source workbench for precision rifle shooters and handloaders. It turns what happens at the range into numbers you can trust, and it works fully offline.

• Ballistics calculator: bullet drop, wind drift and time of flight for your rifle, using your bullet’s ballistic coefficient.
• DOPE card generator: printable elevation and wind holds for the distances you shoot.
• Bullet stability: gyroscopic stability for your bullet and barrel twist rate.
• Monte Carlo dispersion: see how small variations in velocity, wind and aim add up to the groups you get on paper.
• Internal ballistics: model chamber pressure and muzzle velocity as estimates for study and comparison.
• Chronograph analysis: average velocity, standard deviation and extreme spread from your velocity strings.

Use it safely

Every model here is an estimate. Confirm trajectories with real shots on paper, and never use a calculated result in place of published load data from a component manufacturer.
